As a nicheless, real person, with a full time job trying to grow on Instagram, it’s easy to feel like you’re stuck. Here are some things I do on repeat that not only get views, but also get actual follows… 1. Trial reels. Fortunately/unfortunately they are effective when you figure out your strategy. Strategy isn’t “post 3 trial reels a day.” Strategy is finding a topic your ideal follower is interested in and solving that problem for them over and over and over again. It can be as simple as your favorite tinted mineral sunscreen for summer. Repetition builds retention. Don’t be afraid to make slightly different videos about the same topic, especially if they perform well! 2. Introduce yourself. At least once a month I reintroduce myself. I tell people who I am, why I’m on social, and what they can expect from my content. I’m Aly. I’m 34. And I’m on social as a way to connect with listeners and streamers! I do a morning radio show in GR. I’m nicheless on socials, but mostly I post about my life: my foster dog, Champ, my cutie bf Yimmy, that’s what we call him on the air, and life in West MI. 3. I show up imperfectly. Usually bare-faced in sweats. I don’t worry about being too perfect because that’s not my real life. It may not be aesthetic or aspirational, but I’m not looking to be that for anyone. Social media needs more real women showing up talking about real stuff. Questions? My DMs are open!
